IGSS Presentations

Methods

Discussions focusing on methods used to untangle the confounding between environmental and heritable effects on various outcomes, removal of technical variation and unknown confounding, determining the proper interpretation for genetic effects, addressing small samples sizes and missing data, and accounting for imprecise omic predictors.

Genetics

Diving into the impact of genetic variation on social outcomes such as acting indirectly to influence societal disparities, such as income, race, and education, and human behavior such as parenting, partner choice, and personality traits. Additional presentations explore similar issues while incorporating the interaction between genetics and the environment. Finally, exploring the use of genetics as a tool to drive public policy.

Epigenetics

Integrating epigenetic research into the social sciences, specifically looking at DNA methylation and measures of epigenetic aging and these relate to social factors such as family instability and relationships, early life trauma, parenting, and SES.

Previous IGSS Conferences

IGSS was previously organized by Jason Boardman from the University of Colorado Boulder and Jason Fletcher at the University of Wisconsin for since its inception in 2010. We would like to acknowledge their contribution and dedication in creating and hosting this conference since. Please click the UCB logo to view historical conference materials.
